Instructors

Dawn and Steve Smith started shooting at Four Counties in the early `90s and have been friends with ground owners Brian and Sue ever since.

Dawn took up the sport in the eighties and enjoyed several years of successful club and County shooting. She then tried the trap disciplines and soon enjoyed similar success. This led to many appearances for Surrey County and winning a number of Ladies titles. Several trips abroad to compete in Olympic trap and Double trap events proved most enjoyable with a team Double trap win in Northern Cyprus being the most notable success.

Steve started a little earlier than Dawn and was responsible for her getting involved in the sport. Like most he started with English sporting at a local club and progressed to shoot competitions at local and County level. With Dawn he competed abroad and shared the Double Trap team win in Northern Cyprus. He has been involved in clay shooting for over 25 years and has shot English Sporting, FITASC Sporting and all of the trap disciplines in this time (with the occasional game shoot when possible).

Having introduced several friends to shooting over the years they decided to expand upon this and qualified in 2006 as CPSA  level 1 instructors and are members of the Association of Professional Shooting Instructors.

Lessons
Lessons are available with either of them on a one to one basis or in small groups- joint lessons for couples being particularly popular. Clay pigeon shooting is a sport where both sexes and all ages can compete on equal terms-so watch out chaps the lady in your life could be beating you!

Our introductory lesson is a great way to experience clay pigeon shooting with the emphasis on safe and correct gun handling whilst enjoying the thrill of breaking clays.
Full instruction is given on how to handle a shotgun and how to hit clay targets. A suitable size shotgun, all safety equipment and 25 clays and cartridges are provided with lessons lasting around one hour.

For those who would like to take the next step after an introductory lesson, or those who have already shot and want to improve, further lessons are available which can offer a variety of targets and the method used to hit these targets is explained and practiced. These one hour lessons will also include the use of a suitable shotgun, all safety equipment plus 50 clays and cartridges.

Please contact us if you would like more details of the lesson content/structure or pricing information.
